Extremely Rare Collectible Magic Dragon Base Table by Bussian.Only a few ever made. More dramatic than the P&L dragon base and in excellent condition. Emil Bussian was a tool and die machinist from Cleveland, Ohio who hand crafted nearly every prop and table in his professional Oriental themed magic act performed in the Vaudeville Era. He used his handmade wooden forms for the dragon legs, leg flange and table top flange. These forms were used to cast aluminum pieces that were further machined as necessary to make usable parts. The threaded parts of the table shank were all hand turned on a lathe to tight tolerances, then affixed into heavy duty tubing. The acorn nuts used to fasten the dragon legs to the base flange were machined from brass hexagonal rod stock using a tool Bussian made himself, then had chrome plated. In summary, a phenomenal amount of precision labor went into the making of this stunning table base. I believe only two of these exact bases still exist. Purchased directly from Bussian in the mid 1960’s when he was well into retirement.
The table top shown in the photos is NOT included. (For illustrative purposes only.) Included is the dragon base, a two piece shank, a flange for use with your table top and two custom sewn bags. Refer to photos. This sturdy table measures 31.75 inches to the top of the flange.. The dragon legs are about 9 inches long and 7 inches tall. The table top flange is 3.5 inches wide.
