    VTG 36" Cloth Retractable Tape Measure Metal Case Stamped Pat.July 13 1869
    Wonderful OLD 36" retractable cloth tape measure. Metal Case with a push button center to retract the tape. Retraction works well. Stamped on the case: Pat. July 13 1869. So this little tape measure is 150 YEARS OLD.
    Measures approx. 1 1/2" in diameter. The cloth tape is in mostly very good condition. It has some fraying at the start between 1" and 3". (to be expected). To keep the fraying to a minimum I have held the button in when retracting so that there is no pressure on the start of the tape. A few dings that can be seen in the pics. One dark spot above the PAT. where the finish is damaged.
    I am amazed that the spring to rewind is in such great condition considering its age. Just a sweet little tape measure.
